The Lakehouse, OMAM, Squamish Solo, SUNDAY FUNDAY. ***New Blog***

Memories of Squamish Fest 2015. perhaps the last edition… or at least in my time; Squamish July 2015; The heat was insane. It was an inferno to say the least, the Squamish valley was over whelmed with heat. Everyone I play with was working, none bought tickets… I was doomed to go alone... So I did. I had to work, we all did. So i hammered thru a Fraterday, skipped day 1 of the festival and thanks to Sean, who needed a ride, I was convinced to go up not solo and ended up able to camp for free. I parked my Rav4 in the backyard of some sort of compound that was well dialed in and wayyy closer to the event then the actual Squamish fest campground, i was very lucky. Sean Jobin to thank. And his roommates. And the Squamish Compound people. That was DOPE folks. #sexshower #drinkinggames #tightropewalking #allthethingsyouwantatafestival I showed up alone knowing that every band i wanted to see was on the same day, Sunday. Except for Of Monster and Men on Saturday night. I stood waiting for them to play among people who had no idea. Has anyone ever heard or Drake? Shit guys, he is king of cool kids. I missed him but he had fireworks. and he's from TORONTO. that's supposed to be my town #thesix #gross #degrassi please. OMAM new window of this song will be worth it while you read :) I had just been to Iceland that spring and was OBSESSED with the fact that they were in Squamish. A super old dude (late 50s+) stumbled into the group in front of me, a small group of young 20 something ladies. He offered his drink to them and asked who the band was. One girl commented "they are like, kinda indy…" and my defensive nature kicked in and forced myself into the discussion stating "Actually they aren't indy at all they are from Iceland, and are super famous in europe and actually are one of my favourite bands"… you imagine how that turned out sending the weird old guy my way, allowing me to enjoy getting tipsy for free from his water bottle full of whiskey and ginger ale and maybe roofies… but after about 5 min into the show when he wanted to chat I basically said "can't hear you" pointing at the stage and he took off…. #winning Cue The Lakehouse; When the inferno of Saturday night was making the crowds drunk and uncomfortable with the heat, the skies opened up, just as the chorus of this song hit… i've never had something more magical happen; The most amazing artists you love playing live, the heat almost unbearable on the edge of the ocean and the rocky mountains… and the skies open up to gently rain on the humans that are dancing together in the heat… "Can you chase, the fire away?"… nothing short of brilliant timing, luck, coincidence… and life. Then SUNDAY; Elle King Robert Delong royal blood milky chance Mother Mother alabama shakes mumford and sons could I have asked for a greater gift from the music gods? only if my sweetheart was with me. AH hhh… will never be and always be. it was literally one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Ho Hey. Lumineers in Brussels review next;

Strangers to ourselves

7 years later…. the journey continues. Rediscovered that a Blog i started almost a decade ago still exists. When old stolen computers and unbacked up hard drives dont. The cloud prevails. pre #cloud. More to come. blogspot is still a thing. typewriter font is still a thing. 2017. I'm still a thing...

Time together isn't ever quite enough
When you and I are alone, I’ve never felt so at home
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
We need time, only time
When we're apart, whatever are you thinking of?
If this is what I call home, why does it feel so alone?
So tell me darling, do you wish we'd fall in love?
All the time, all the time ~Saltwater Room

Hello Seattle, I am the crescent moon,
shinning down on your face
i will disguise myself as a sleeping pill
and descend inside of you

Jenny Lewis ~ One of the Guys

All our friends, they're gettin' on But the girls are still staying young If I get caught being rude in a conversation With a child bride on her summer vacation No matter how hard I try to be just one of the guys There's a little something inside that won't let me No matter how hard I try to have an open mind There's a little voice inside that prevents me Ooh, how I live it got me here Locked in this bathroom full of tears And I have begged for you & I have borrowed, But I've been the only sister to my own sorrow No matter how hard I try to be just one of the guys There's a little something inside that won't let me No matter how hard I try to have an open mind There's a little clock inside that keeps tickin' There's only one difference between you & me When I look at myself all I can see I'm just another Lady without a baby No matter how hard I try to be just one of the guys There's a little something inside that won't let me. No matter how hard I try to have an open mind There's a little cop inside that prevents me I'm not gonna break for you! I'm not gonna pray for you! I'm not gonna pay for you! That's not what ladies do! Oh when you break When you break Oh when you break

No one is poor who has friends

How long have you known your oldest friend? The friend who's been in your life the longest, who still to this day remains your friend?

I consider myself very lucky to have great friends, far and wide, to this day living all over the world. Friends i've had since childhood, teenage-hood, adulthood. But I realized today that my oldest friend, Jenny Capel, who grew up around the corner from me just turned 29, meaning this year we have known each other for 25 years.

That makes me feel old... but also elated. Not everyone has the pleasure or fortune of friendships that last a lifetime... realizing 25 years of friendship definitely gives me a safe and warm feeling. It reminds me of all my great friends from highschool and my ladies from university ... how even with the distance, the passing of time, and the zig zag of life, somehow I am fortunate enough to still know all these great people. Not to mention the amazing friendships i've gained while living in Vancouver.

So, THANK YOU to all my friends, you are my sunshine! Here's to more memories, life and love!

Sunshine lollipops and...

it's february! Today outside of my truck at the studio, between pelting rain and moments of sunny breaks i had the pleasure to view this:

Awesome! I heart rainbows. FULL rainbows! this is a phenomenon i've now seen twice in less then a year and i can say the only two times in my life i've seen rainbows on that scale. it's soo cool! :)

Fringe is winding down big time... three and a half episodes to go!

I'm really considering traveling when the show is over... more to come on that

We Are All Canucks

Last saturday I was in a rather crappy mood. A friend had cancelled diner plans on me, my evening karaoke plans were dashed when we discovered the place had CLOSED last september, and I was trying to decide what I could do to raise my spirits on the ONLY NIGHT OFF of my week. I had spent the morning shopping for some much belated gifts and it was even Sunny! this should be a GREAT day!

Mike had invited me to the gym, and since i'm on my "I am doing the sun run" kick i decided that was a great idea. There is a hot tub, a treadmill and a good friend. As we are leaving the gym at about 6:15, about to go for a bite, Mike gets a call. From Ross my old boss, and his good friend and regular at the Creek. He couldn't use his hockey tickets due to a work diner and thus, would we like to have them? well holy CRAP, did we ever! We ran out the door, zoomed to get the tickets, got back to my place, got a cab and somehow in 45 minutes had managed to get to the game before it started! Season ticket holder, we were on the center ice line with an outstanding view of the whole arena. I ended up having a great night, full of friends, booze :) and the Canucks even won. In fact, they killed! After I met up with my ladies Ali and Tiff for some poutine and managed to get home happy, tipsy and greatful for my wonderful saturday. :) I have never been to a Canucks game and I must say, it was so much fun, i'd LOVE to go again!
